Do you have any tips for getting started with affiliate programs? I've dabbled with them in the past. This is what I've found so far:

- CJ and Linkshare programs on a content site with a large student audience didn't work out well at all for me. I got clicks but not conversions.

- Adding AWS to an existing content site has worked out OK.

- Trying to establish a standalone AWS site hasn't worked well for me so far.

In general, do you find that the most successful affiliate program sites are standalone or are they somehow connected to a larger content site?

The idea of building affiliate sites is very appealing to me....I just wonder how to go about it with a reasonable shot at success.

Boricua there is no easy way of making money with affiliates - you simply need to work at it (as I am discovering myself!).

As for 5 Star Affiliate programs - well not sure what to say... except Linda's one of the best, and most generous, people in the business. Check out her programs - nice variety, great tools! :ROCK:

Affiliate marketing is very hard to get started with and overwhelming to learn, but if you devote the time and energy it can be very rewarding. Too many thinks it's get rich quick, throw up a couple banners and then give up when that fails.

This is one of the best threads I have seen for getting started with affiliate marketing. it's 2 pages long and just jam-packed with tips, tools and resources.
