Microsoft May Buy Yahoo

Quote:
The NY Post has the exclusive story this morning: Microsoft has once again approached Yahoo!, asking the Sunnyvale based search portal and content destination to come to the table and negotiate a friendly takeover by Microsoft.
Quote:
The same report values Yahoo! at $50 billion; the interest by Microsoft is said to be serious to the point that world renowned bankers Goldman Sachs are advising Microsoft on the deal.
Wow, that would be one hell of an acquisition.

That should go a long way in closing the gap with Google. It could be a good deal for publishers, as we all know how the big G can do things however they want at the moment. They may be a little more careful with a serious competitor...

I don't see a lot of synergy through it. You couldn't really combine Yahoo & MSN, together they wouldn't be as good as apart. But it'd certainly give MS control over more eyeballs.

what Microsoft should do is.... start a new company with yahoo where they put all their different sites in 1 company and microsoft itself should just focus on software for computers....

I am not sure Microsoft woul do anything more impressive than Yahoo already did. If you look at MSN, they been around a long time and Google and Yahoo kicked their butts on search engines. I think they should focus on the market they control (software) and leave Yahoo alone. JMO
