Thread: Backup of projects

At work we were pondering the idea of taking our backups to an underground cave system. It's somewhere here in Kentucky. You pay the monthly fee, they pickup your backup tapes everyday, take them under ground and bring you them when you need them.

This is a little overboard I'll admit, but if you wanted it safe from pretty much anything I'd say it's the way to go.

I'm taking a trip to Mammoth soon. If I find a bunch of tapes I'll know who they belong to.

I keep my accounting information in Quicken and back it up to a memory stick which I carry in my pocket. This morning I discovered the memory stick had gone through the wash machine with my pants. It still seems to work fine but I doubt it would have survived the dryer.

The worst part was when I was checking the stick to see if I could read the data I double clicked on one of the files. That was enough to start Quicken and load in the files. Great, now I know I can read the data, but the files are four days old. When I unplug the stick and start Quicken it comes up with the new user screen. I eventually figured out that if I said I was a new user but had data to transfer it would find the current files. I was a bad 30 minutes though.
