    Hi it's Matt.

I saw your site, ... , on Google under:
    Self-improvement > Inspirational

I see that your site has an Alexa ranking of 5620131.
    Not bad!
Actualy its crap, and because of your computer generated spam link exchange request I hope your site never does any better.

At least if you are going to use some semi inteligent system to get alexa rankings, make the coment relevan. - like swap links and improve your ranking.

Oh and your site isnt event remotely related so no.

I love the ones where they ask to exchange links because the sites are related... or so they think. In truth they're nothing alike. The worst one was a few days ago I got one with the guy wanting to do a link exchange with his crappy personal webpage hosted off his ISP's free web space... where are these people getting the software to do this? Honestly? Promoting a personal non-profit crappy site with spam software... grrrr

I remember quite a few years ago now when I was running a small hobbyist site and I kept getting those automated/spam link exchange requests, if they had actually looked at the site they wouldn't have wasted their time..

I am getting a bunch of blog spam using the word 'websight' Makes me laugh everytime.

Correct link exchange? Be friends with the site's owner. Otherwise go after the one way incoming links, and the way you do that is provide content people want to share with their friends.

The best way is to have high quality unique content which makes the hole process easier. But as Cutter said, get to know the webmaster first, don't just email them a link exchange. But if you don't or can't do that make sure you target your request, make specific comments about the site to make sure you've really looked at and think its a good site to exchange with and give some reason(s) if possible.

I hate these emails. Not just because they flood my email but because they make it really hard for me to exchange links. I know when I get a link exchange email, I don't read it. So if I wanted to trade with another site and sent them an email, I'd expect the other site's owner to ignore it as well.

I ignore such emails, I sometimes tried to un-subscribe or "remove" - but it was a joke - I started to receive even more of them

Yeah, you should never respond/unsubscribe to any spam email that you get. By doing that you are confirming that the email address still exist and that you are using it...so they will send even more mails, like you already find out.
