Yup... .edu pages are always of a higher quality and always deserving of special blanket bonuses.

Good grief. It appears they are using some sort of highly permissive discussion software that does not challenge for human authentication. I visited one of the sites and looked in a directory folder and found scores of spam listings, some of them highly offensive.

Wow, I've never been offended by spam before :P

I'd say that it's stupid to give any tld that can be bought by people with spam sites a bonus. In fact, most edu sites I see aren't that helpful and have been out of date for a decade.

Chris did you get the spam via your vbulletin contact form? I've been getting emails exactly like that (.edu drug spam) for the past few days. Any tips on how to stop it happening?

It wasn't through my vb contact form, but my site contact form. They just randomly toss in HTML and vbcode like an idiot spammer would. I get email spams with vbcode in them.

anyways... On many of my newer site contact forms I scan for <a href and [url and if they're present I just don't send the email. Its a simple check that stops most of that spam.

YES!!!! I get about 6 a day (i have 2 vbulletin forums). I think I'm going to just disable the contact form. i don't know if there's an option in vbulletin to do that... if there isn't i'll just go right into the code and change it.
