Transparent/blurred edges.

How can I get http://www.american-presidents.com 's top History Empire logo to blend seamlessly with whatever background goes behind it?

It's a transparent gif.

I don't want someone to do it for me, I want someone to tell me how to do this. Thanks

You need a PNG with alpha channel transparency. IE has irregular support for such things though, so you need a javascript work around to make sure most versions of IE handle it correctly.

Feel free to copy the code for the IE js from my survival site, its used for the Quiz Board in the header.
