    Question website database help

I need to know what I need to get started in making a page for my company's website. It needs to have one page with a form, and when someone working in the company submits the form filled with information about a work order, it will be added to another page which contains other orders that other employees have previously submitted. I've seen something similar on newspapers who use lasso database but I'm not sure how to get started or what I need. Do I need to get mysql, lasso, or....? Any info and links would be appreciated! THANKS

It would be best to use a mysql database and a scripting language to do it as this will provide you with the flexibility you need. PHP would handle it fine.

If you plan to do it using the above then it should be a pretty simple process. If you have no database experience then just do a search for PHP & MySQL and you'll find a ton of tutorials. Alternatively if you don't have the time to learn mysql etc, it shouldn't cost too much to pay someone to do it for you as it's a simple job.

I see, how much is PHP and MySQL?

    Thanks for your help.

Also, I'm going to be making an interactive CD using Director. What is a good databse to use? A co-worker had a mac and used Valentino or something like that but I prefer PC. Would Access fit the bill or should I use mysql

PHP and MySQL are free. MySQL is your database.

You could probably download something similar to what you want off hotscripts.com or somewhere.

Don't use MS Access. It doesn't work well in a web environment.

What are some good websites where I can hire someone to make it, or teach me how to make it?

I'd suggest you hire this one out, like you look like you're doing. Learning enough PHP and MySQL to do what you're talking about in a short period of time might drive you nuts. You'd be better off if you learned it on your leisure time, independant of any deadlines or timelines.
    I run good-tutorials.com.
