Question Dreamweaver MX 2004 or GoLive CS 7?

I am using an iBook 800mhz with 256megs of ram.

I need a web designing software and I am stuck between the Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Adobe GoLive CS 7.

I am going to get a book to learn as I am a beginner. What I would like to know is which software can my iBook handle without constant lag and problems. I am not planning on upgrading my ram.

And recommendation on which one is a better investment is very welcomed! TIA.

I'd highly recommend Dreamweaver -- it's what I've been using on my powerbook. Simply B-U-T-Full

Definitely go with Dreamweaver. I would stay away from GoLive unless that is your only option.

Why use either? Code by hand Sorry, I know people hate hearing that.

Coding by hand is definitely the way to go. Ideally that's what I would be doing, but Dreamweaver is currently saving me a lot of time.

Code by hand if you're a beginner. When you learn and know what you're doing, switch over to a WYSIWYG editor if you want, to save time.

If you don't learn now, you never will.

I'd reccomend a combination of hand code & editors that way you can go which way you feel best with however I do agree that if you code by hand you will be much more knowledgeable by the end..

Yeh, why not get a free program? Something like Editplus, that helps you with basic html anyway.
Don't you just love free internet games ?

Hand coding is definitely the preferred way -- many techniques (using Smarty with PHP, for example, can get very cumbersome using a visual editor while being highly eloquent on it's own) actually slow down if you use a WYSIWYG editor. However, creating smaller - and especially static - sites may be faster using a visual editor assuming you know how to use one .

Adobe Go Live sucks. Dreamweaver all the way.
