    vbulletin contact form spam

Anyone else getting loads of spam now from vbulletin contact forms? It looks like its blog spam, trying to get a bunch of stupid back links, but they're sending it to the forum admin like they think it gets posted somewhere. It doesn't get posted, it just makes me want to ban the entire country of Germany from my server.

Oh yes, as of recently. My product review sites are getting lots of spam through the contact forms.

My Wordpress contact forms have been getting this for about a fortnight now.

It's pretty pointless as the only person who sees it is me in my inbox before it gets Shift+Deleted.

I'm not, but I have been getting spam to the form on my environmental chemistry site that people use to apply to be writers. The odd thing is that the main conact form does not get spammed in the same way. It's apparent that it is automated spam, but changing input names didn't do much good. Its really weird.

I have too, Chris. It's been a pain, so I just turned emails off.

Its gotta be a 3.5 thing, because I never got it from this forum until today.

I don't know if it is a vBulletin 3.5 thing or not, because we never get contact form spam over at GFXcontests.com and I never get it at SimCityForum.com and both run vBulletin 3.5. I suspect it is simply individual targeting of your domain.

Interesting, maybe you should put a redirect in that gives a 404 error for "sendmessage.php" since you use your own contact form. This would at least tell you if the spam is coming from vBulletin's contact form.
