i was just thinking of making a small site based on a niche that is pretty crowded and just feed off some articles and mabie offer a few things here and there but mainly jus another content site, nothing special. Is it worth the effort or is it super hard to make anything back from a news site that jus feeds rss articles and a few more things here and there.

What Uzzz said can work, perhaps you can head the site in a slightly different direction then the already established sites, you may have some success.
It's all about what you can offer over the other sites, sure you might have some of the same content but you may actually have something of value that the others done have.
Perhaps you can supply more info, or actually give it a go and see what happens.
