I've noticed that depending on what category you get listed in you can get more than one link from Yahoo. Some categories are highly linked to from regional Yahoo category sites as well.

My friend paid to get listed in one of their categories and now he has seven PR6 links from Yahoo. If that's the case than I definitely think it's worth it but for only one link I don't think it's worth it.

Check the back links of your competitors that are listed in Yahoo and see how many links from Yahoo they have and see. You might just get lucky and be able to get several high quality links like my friend was.

Hope this was of help. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and though this might be of interest.

Well another thing to bear in mind is most people on this forum are too PR minded

Remember, Yahoo is an information resources used by millions to find information. Its probably more well known than google to the average joe. So being listed in yahoo has far more benefit than page rank alone.

As far as the directory is concerned, yes. But the majority of people don't search for information using a directory. The traffic you're likely to get from the directory is minimal compared with a search engine.

I would still only pay for Yahoo if I thought the PR benefit was worth it. If you're running an ecommerce site then the reason it's probably worth it is because it's hard to get decent backlinks and so directories are important for building PR.

Actually you'd be suprised at how many uniques a Yahoo directory listing can get you per day.

It's relative, for a very small site, yes $25 is alot...it's less than $1 per day, so if an ecommerce site made one sale per day from a Yahoo referal it would pay for itself.

Personally, I get quite a bit of traffic from my Yahoo listing, always have. I guess it just depends on your site, how deep it's nested in Yahoo, your site description, etc.

Hmmm.... I never thought of it that way (less than a buck a day). If I give up drinking an extra coffee at starbucks each day, I can pay for 3 yahoo listings a year.
