Question Good blog/photo gallery combination for a new baby?

I'm going to put up a quickie site for a friend who has a newborn baby. She wants to post photos for people to see, but also allow people to comment, interact, etc.

I know you can do vBulletin with Photopost, but I think that might be overkill for this purpose. I'm thinking more along the lines of WordPress with a gallery, but I don't know of anything that plugs in with WordPress.

I care more about ease of use and features than about cost, so please don't suggest PHPBB with some mods. I can spend a couple hundred to get it up and running, and I don't want to deal with the headache and upkeep of open-source stuff.

I've seen Picasa used on a site before...but I'm not sure if users can comment on images.

TextPattern has quite a few gallery features/mods also.

A great OS gallery script is called "gallery"

I'm not sure if it has the comments though, been awhile since I used it.

Also you can run photopost without vbulletin and it can do comments natively.

Gallery2 is the new version and it has always done comments. If you search for WPG2 you will find a wordpress plugin that connects both programs.

If she doesn't want to deal with her own domain, hosting, etc. then she can just get a Flickr account, which meets all those criteria (commenting, posting photos, etc.). It's also pretty easy to put your Flickr photos on your blog if you want to go that way.

How about Wordpress with a gallery plugin? There are many of them.

Thanks, everybody. I decided to go with Gallery without the blog, since it looks like it'll work okay for now, and I don't feel like messing with two products and a bridge. I may add WordPress later on, though.
