I have an idea which is relevant to the UK and Australia, probably more aimed at the UK market with an interest in Australia.
Should I buy a .co.uk, .com.au or .com domain name, or all of them?

I would suggest purchasing all of them--or at least co.uk and com.au
I would say go with .com. I don't have much experience with .co.uk or .com.au because I'm from the US, but I for one prefer just typing .com when I'm going to a site. It also looks and sounds cleaner.
Dunno though, that's just my "stupid american" 2 cents.
Get all three.
I would buy all three given the conditions you describe.
Yeah, sorry, I missed the all three option... if it's worth it, grab all three of em.
Get all three, but only promote using one of them. If you're planning on getting UK traffic from the search engines, it's worth getting UK hosting to go with your .co.uk domain.
I would also suggest you can buy all of three. However, IMO .net is for international audience and .com is universal or international extension. I think if you are very specific to your targeted audience, you should promote particular business with specified country domain extensions. Like .co.uk for UK audience and .com.au for australian audience.
