I'm thinking of selling rare singles and albums of bands/artists with a large amount of collectors, like U2, madonna, R.E.M., radiohead, etc. Would this make me money and has anyone got advice of where I can get my stock from?

Yes, that would make you money, though probably not a lot. The reason it would make you money is because if they're "rare" then they will be hard to get hold of! I would imagine the only place you'll get stock from is auctions / car boot sales / record fairs etc.
Wont be easy, probably not worth hassle if you ask me.
So do you have a better idea of what I should sell?
No. I would imagine your problem would be lack of money to make an initial investment.
Have a look on alibaba.com for stuff to sell.

Stock: car boot sales, fairs, and also advertise in Loot etc, offering to buy up collections. Also, try Ebay (picked up some good bargains there myself).
Your main problem is having a level of stock, and then a level of turnover, to make it worth your time.

I have £800 saved up to start a business.
Sell something that you are interested in...
I think Chris started CBSwords with $1k. So you should be able to kick something off with £800. No idea what or how though. Never done it myself.
It's now £930 (got alot for my birthday)...
I'm still looking for a good thing to sell...
Do you think you should be starting an ecommerce site now? I mean, I would have thought a lot of time needs to be given to them and with school and everything...is it worth it?
Why not make a content site which makes a nice amount, and put it towards a bigger one?
Don't you just love free internet games ?
Well content needs to be something I like or I am interested in... And most of those things have a packed market...
CDs of live concerts would be a good idea... I can get hold of them and sell them with ease...
Do you intend on paying the artists?Originally posted by incka

Help, I'm a Newbie!
A few of them don't require payments, and a few even like bootlegs. For instance R.E.M.
incka, the profit margin for sellings CDs would be crappy. Plus competing with other outfits would be quite tough. I'd recommend getting into a niche market in which the product is priced quite high (which would equate to higher margins in a majority of cases).
