    DMOZ Links for Online-Literature

    Hey Chris-

262 DMOZ links is impressive! How much work did it take to get that many? A lot of hours? Are/were you an editor in any of the categories? Any tips/suggestions/etc.?

    http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/searc...ine-literature

    Thanks!
    Mike

It took lots of time submitting. I was an editor for a time, but atleast 200 of those were added by other editors.

Are you implying that DMOZ editors actually exist?!

Wow, I've seen no proof of it in the way of returned emails, or DMOZ submissions being put through...

All the DMOZ editors now work for Google where they carry on their proud traditions of never ansering emails. That and taking a long time to index your site(s)

How valuable do you think they are? In terms of search engine rankings and traffic?

Originally they were very valuable, a nice headstart. Now I don't think they're nearly as valuable.

Are there any other general directories you think are more valuable? Probably Yahoo?

If you find a category that fits your site well and it has a high PR, then DMOZ links can still be very valuable. However, the chances of getting listed is extremely hit and miss, especially in the boarder categories that carry the higher PR.

Well, it wouldn't do any harm. I didn't think Zeal passed PR though.
