I do not know for sure, but I would assume when you install the Smileys package it includes all sorts of advertising features. Probably a custom toolbar also.

I would hope it doesnt have spyware though, just uninstallable adware.

well tribal fusion seems to be running those ads heavily if I remember correctly, just curoius as to how that company is making $$.

I think they are installing 3rd party software -- but I've never tried them so I don't know.

Yeah that's the only way I can picture them making any money off of it. Unless they cost money to download or sign you up for spam.
