    alexa

hi, I currently purchased a domain name, but after purchasing the domain name I went to alexa.com only to find that the domain was registered in 1998,(i just bought it, in 2005) and the address is totally, wrong.

    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=gamatek.com

    Should I abandon the domain?

Why would you? I'm positive that Alexa allows you to change the address.

You can just tell them to remove the address.

You should probably also contact Google asking if the website was banned.

    http://www.google.com/contact/

I contacted them trying to work out if a domain is banned or not. They said that they've passed the message on to their engineering team for investigation. But they said they couldn't comment on an individual site basis. So they wont actually say if a domain has been banned or not. I suppose, if it has been banned in the past, they'll just un-ban it for me.

is the ban really just a flag like ban=0? or is it more complicated?

IMHO, this domain is just OK to use.
Domain name itself doesn't mean anything, unless it is bund to a unique host. Then it will be interpreted into the host ip address by DNS server when visited. when one site is blocked, it is the ip address that is blocked, not domain name. So, if the domain name is bund to a new host, it gains a new life ever since.

Just a guess. I am not sure.
