Well, there are lots of possible reasons for this, you may not be seeing the true results.

People search long-tail variations of keywords that you are looking at. So something like Google search console will tell you quite easily where the traffic is coming from.

The other thing to look at is that if you changed titles and ranked a few places down your new title may have a better click-through rate.

This is all assuming that you are talking about organic traffic from Google, it may be this is direct traffic or referral traffic, in that case I would suggest you use Google analytics which is a great tool from breaking down where traffic comes from to your website. I would rather rank 20th and get more traffic than firsthand no traffic. We all chacea higher ranking on google but at the end of the day, we forget that its really the traffic we want.
