    "Link to us" page

Does having a "link to us" page that gives the person all the html code they would need to link to the site make any difference or not. I don't say anything about linking back so that would probably deter them anyway but I was wondering if it really made a difference.

Doesn't hurt. On several of my pages, right on the main page, I place a 88x31 button for the site with "Link to us" right underneath it. I've gotten a few links this way.

I've found that the easier you make it for people to link to you the more links you'll get. I find that quite a few people use the cut and paste codes I provide.

I've never tried it, but I guess it must work as most sites I visit have this feature somewhere.

Hi, i started getting into the website business a couple of weeks ago.
its just a basic site with not much traffic ,but i feel i am doing well with Adsense at the moment. the next step for me is to get people linking to my ssite. i am wondering what is an example of the type of code that i could put on my page? is it simply a html hyperlink? would you recommend me making a button for people to put on their sites or is a text link just as succifient
I have submitted to search engines, but i still cant find my site on any of them

    thank you for any help!

Considering how many people I get emailing me asking permission to link to my literature site I think I should add a page like this myself.

So they want permission to link to it in general; not exchange links?

Yes. Some places, especially it seems schools, have "ask before linking" policies.

Ah yes. Come to think of it, I've seen a few of these before.

Do they actually hold water, or is it just a "It'd be dandy if you did this" sort of thing?

No, they have policies not to link out without permission of the place they're linking to.

Only a few weird companies have "don't link to us without permission" policies. They're stupid IMO but alot of public institutions, like schools, adopt "ask first" policies just in case.

That is kind of amusing. It would be like a retail store asking customers not to tell anyone about them.
