Upgraded forum to 3.0.5 today.
I hate upgrading VB as it removes some of your mods and you have to add them again...
I trust you're running the latest PHP too, Chris?
Good work. I have 2 forums to do on the weekend myself.

I've got 4 forums to upgrade
But I did update my php a few weeks ago...
How do I download just the update files?
Download the full update, and then check the vBulletin announcements forum - they typically tell you which files were updated

Bit complicated hey, why can't they make a zip with just updated files that I can upload to my server then remotly extract it... It would save a lot of time...
It's not complicated - just upload the changed files.

I meant it takes ages when you have 4 forums...
Well... NOW php is upgraded....
Quite a night. This server runs hsphere. First I needed to upgrade hsphere and before I could do that I needed to upgrade postgresql. That took a long time but it didn't cause any downtime publicly. Then I upgraded hsphere, and at that point Apache failed. So I tried to upgrade apache. Failed. I thought maybe I should upgrade mysql, that deleted mysql off the server. These were all upgrade scripts I was running, real simple, sh update.sh, so they were just incompatible with my version or something (though they shouldn't have been). Support fixed apache last night, and then MySQL this morning.
Wow, lots of work. Is the upgrade between versions of these worth all that?
It is if you don't like having your server hacked.
I'm so glad I don't need a dedicated server!
No, needing a dedicated server can be a good thing. It means you are geting massive ammounts of traffic, more than enough to pay for it!!!! Do it right and you won't have to worry too much about being hacked. ie don't give everything the same password! I learned that the hard way!!! Luckly the system restore also upgraded everything!Originally Posted by chromate
