    Getting revenge on SPAMMERS

    Just found an interesting article:

    http://www.marketingvox.com/archives...e_on_spammers/

It is good to see that some people are taking a pro-active approach to dealing with SPAM.

    Cheers...

I think it's a great idea and can be very effective if it becomes popular. However, I believe that a little bit of hacking could make that code a threat to normal sites as well.

Looks to me like users of this screensaver could be sued for knowingly participating in a dDOS attack, even if it is against a spam server. And what if an innocent server accidentally makes it's way onto the list?

yea, i wouldnt do this. It would be a definite law suit. Even though they Spam us, that does not give us the right to hurt their property. There are other methods to deal with spammers, illegimate ones. FBI.

The spammers would have to give their name if they put up a law suit which could be what the whole thing is about, its not a solution but more likely an attempt to track them down further.

There is nothing worse, in my eyes, than a spammer; I just had to download 1600 emails which were all spam but had to go through them incase there was an important email!!

I should add, that i don't use this program. I just found it interesting that the "shoe is on the other foot".

Xander, I think the real issue would be innocent people/companies that were affected by this launching action against you.

ozgression: If innocent people/companies are affected, which is unlikely to happen, they can stop Lycos one way or another.

I don't use the screensaver and wouldn't but anything is better than nothing.

thepoorman: I have some old established email addresses that would be too difficult to change so normally I get around 60-70 spam emails a day. It has got better through the use of spam assain and thunderbird(been training it for 6 months or so) but I never trust filters implicitly.

All I can say is bring on Ipv 6!

I don't think I'll be downloading this, but I think that it'll be nice for everyone if it actually works out well, lowering peoples spam count to a dull roar.
