Google has indicated site speed (and as a result, page speed) is one of the signals used by its algorithm to rank pages. Page speed is also important to user experience. Pages with a longer load time tend to have higher bounce rates and lower average time on page.

Page speed can be described as page load time. Page load time refers to how long a single page on your website takes to fully display the content while time to byte time refers to how long it takes a browser to receive the first byte of information from the web server. It is important because if the page speed is below 3 sec then the bounce rate increases as the user on an average can wait for upto 3 seconds

It is one of the most important factors Google considers when ranking a website, having slow page speeds may not only frustrate users but also Google, causing your website's organic rankings and traffic to drop.

Page speed should be 70/100 this is minimum threshold to get more number audience to any web page. If your score is 40/100 then it's very low page loading speed.
