    Bounce rate: Bounce rates are considered as single page sessions. When we do SEO for blog/website, we analyze bounce rate to understand the audience behavior so that we could deliver the results. It is when the visitors navigate away from the website after viewing only one page and they close the window.

    Pogo Sticking: Pogo Sticking looks like bounce rate but there’s a very thin difference between both of them. In bounce rate, visitor lands on your website and close it that he/she could open another link with same search term but in Pogo Sticking, user with close the website and change the search term and again land on your website.

    Bounce rate: A high bounce rate isn’t always bad, as it can mean that while the visitor didn’t travel deeper into a site, he spent some time on the page and got an answer to his question. He may have saved the URL or may come back later, but since he didn’t spend more time reading the content , the activity is considered a bounce.

    Pogo sticking: Pogo sticking occurs when a user performs a search, clicks on a result, very quickly clicks back to the search result page, and clicks on a different result. This type of behavior is a direct result of immediate dissatisfaction in the search result. This always has a negative aspect to it.

    In simple words, Pogo-sticking has to do with search engine traffic, while bounce rate is tied to all traffic sources including search.

    What is a Bounce: A bounce is a single-page session on your site. In Analytics, a bounce is calculated specifically as a session that triggers only a single request to the Analytics server, such as when a user opens a single page on your site and then exits without triggering any other requests to the Analytics server during that session.

    What is Bounce Rate: Bounce rate is single-page sessions divided by all sessions or the percentage of all sessions on your site in which users viewed only a single page and triggered only a single request to the Analytics server.

    Is a Bounce Bad: It depends. If the success of your site depends on users viewing more than one page, then, yes, a high bounce rate is bad. For example, if your home page is the gateway to the rest of your site (e.g., news articles, product pages, your checkout process) and a high percentage of users are viewing only your home page, then you don’t want a high bounce rate.

    Ok, so that is a bounce, but then what is Pogo-Sticking?

    What is Pogo-Sticking: Pogo-sticking is when a Search Engine User performs a search, subsequently clicks on a search result (paid or organic), quickly clicks back to the Search Results Page and then clicks on a different result. This behaviour demonstrates to the Search Engine that the click resulted in immediate dissatisfaction with the search result. In other words, the customer clicked, did not like what they saw and immediately moved on.

    Is Pogo-Sticking Bad: Yes! Pogo-Sticking is Always a Bad Thing! But, it can be mended if you use tools that will make your traffic less ”bouncy”.

    Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page. It can be reduced by:

    Good content update
    Internal links
    Easy navigation
    Quick loading of webpage

    Pogo-sticking is defined as going back and forth from a search engine results page (SERP) to an individual search result destination site. In other words, pogo-sticking is when the searcher clicks on a link on a SERP, sees that it's not what she is looking for, and immediately bounces off by hitting the back button.
