Hosting for a music video site

Im looking for cheap hosting for a new music video site Im making.

I will need at least 50GB diskspace and unlimited bandwidth.

And less than $120 a year.

Alot of them probaly wont accept me because they will class it as copyrighted material.

Although many sites do this and they sometimes are even supported by the music industry.

Not many places offer unlimited bandwidth.

Just search on google and look at the adwords ads, most of them will be pretty good.

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth.

Places that offer unlimited bandwidth simply limit the size of your connection. For instance they'll give you unlimited bandwidth but only on a 128kbps connection. So basically after more than a handful of concurrent visitors your site bottlenecks and slows down horribly.

Thats the mistake I made a year ago - I signed up with a host that supposedly offered unlimited bandwidth, space as well as a free domain.

All this for $15, far too good to be true

I'd be surprised if anywhere reliable offered that.

Do tell me if you do though.

I found a Tier 1 host that seemed good, but then I read the FAQ and it said sites that prodomenantly have the purpose of giving away audio or video are not allowed as they effect our system for other members.

What about if I had a server in my house with a powerful line going to it, how much would that cost?

I've found a service which hosts over 20,000 music videos and will stream them on my site for a negoatiable price. I have to ring them for a quote.

I also found several streams I can put on the site for free, such as the new R.E.M. music video - Bad Day.

Your best bet would be to get your own dedicated server. RackShack, for instance, will give you 750gigs of transfer a month. Also, if you're streaming videos, I don't think a normal shared host will accept you, as you'd really be draining system resources. If you're looking for all of this at less that $120 a year, however, you might be in some trouble.

I found a way around it...

I've found thousands of fans sites with streams on for tens of thousands of videos...

So I can fit the site into 100mb easily... And that is the host I'm going to be using - easily - as it will not take up much bandwidth.

I'd go with Rackspace instead of Rackshack anyday -- sure a basic server there costs $240 while it's only $99 at rackshack, but they're reliable and their support is EXCELLENT (the second you call them, they place 1-4 technicians to fix you problem at that very moment).
