    Banned domain

I'm considering buying a domain. Is there any easy way to see if it has been banned by the search engines?

    Cheers,

    Richard.

There is no list you can look at -- but if it has a PR 0 and you know it has backwards links thats a good sign.

Consequently if it is banned it usually isn't that hard to get it unbanned.

My site (www.calpolyforum.com) has been indexed by Googlebots and got accepted to DMOZ.

However, my site is not listed anywhere on Google search engine.
I am not sure if the domain has been banned or not.

Should I be e-mailing google for further investigation?

The fact that you have PR probably indicates that it hasn't been banned.

I am concerned because there is not a single backlink listed on Google search engine.
My site has been deep crawled and indexed several days by Googlebots but still haven't been listed.

How many backlinks do you have?

If you're concerned, then I guess you could mail Google and find out? Chris will no doubt have a better idea though

Google only lists backlinks from pages with a PR of 4 or greater.

I don't know if I do have a backlink or not.
But the website has a pagerank of 5.

Chris, I have finally received an e-mail from Google webmaster:

Your page has been blocked from our index because it does not meet the
quality standards necessary to assign accurate PageRank. We cannot comment
on the individual reasons your page was removed. However, certain actions
such as cloaking, writing text in such a way that it can be seen by search
engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose
of fooling search engines may result in permanent removal from our index.
Please read our webmaster guidelines at
    http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html for more information.

Can you help me on how to get back on the search engine?
I don't believe I have cheated or abused in any way. Could be the previous owner, since I bought this domain on July.

Did you tell Google that you bought the domain in July in your email?

I did not include that information on my first sent e-mail to Google.
Should I reply saying that I bought it in July and that I have not cheated or abused the seo?

That would be a good idea.

Also, have a look at this and see if you can find anything google would object to.

But should I send the e-mail today or wait until the early next month?
I've checked the webarchive and is May 23, 2002 the problem or May 19, 2001? I'm not sure.
