    More private messages.

I know that Chromate, Mike and myself have reached our private message limits at some times, and it is annoying having to delete messages. Either give us more private message space for free or do an option to buy private message space please.

I'm at 40/200 so I am good. But I agree with Sean that deleted messages is really annoying, I had to do it at Sitepoint many times.

Premium Memberships would be good for this. Quite a few forums are doing this now and it seems to work fairly well. For about $2/mo you get double PM space, Special Badge, and a different color for your username on posts/user lists, larger avatars, sigs, file uploads etc. There are a few other perks depending on the forum, but that's the gist of it. Users get to donate to a forum they enjoy helping it grow while getting a little extra. I'm planning on doing this on a couple of my sites and my users seem to be eager for me to add it.

It wouldn't make you rich, but it would be a fairly steady source of revenue wich would certainly help during the slow times with other programs.

Speaking of PM limits... Incka, you may now PM me again. I've cleared out some space.

    Chrispian's idea is good.

I'll PM you when I can remember what my PM was about.

I wish I could take credit for it. While I did have some thoughts along these lines, it didn't gel until I started reading threads over at TAZ where it seems be a growing practice. I'll write up a review of how it goes with my sites once I impliment it. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I'll do an "initital response" and then wait a couple of months to get a better perspective on how viable it is and share both here.

Perhaps do something where people who have posted more than 250 times get extra private message space?

Personally, I don't really think it's a big deal. 200 is enough, for me at least. You just need to clean out all the old stuff every now and again.
