Click-through rate, or CTR, is hugely important for advertisers. In most PPC platforms, including Google AdWords and Bing Ads, your CTR helps determine both your ad rank and your cost per click.

AdWords click-through rate is the rate at which users “click through” to your site from an AdWords ad. The rate itself is calculated by determining the ratio between the number of impressions for a particular ad and how many times the ad has been clicked.

For example, a click-through rate of 1% means that for every 100 impressions the ad receives, one user clicked on it.

Simply getting your AdWords campaign up and running is relatively straightforward. Just write your adverts, add some keywords, enter you card details and watch the sales and enquiries start coming in, right? Well not exactly, as there is a little more to it than that.

In a nutshell, click through rate is the number of times an ad is clicked divided by the number of times the page or ad unit is viewed. In other words, it is the ratio between number of page views and number of click on the advertisement. CTR = No. of clicks / No

Click-through rate (CTR) is an incredibly important concept in search engine marketing. The simplest definition is that click-through rate is the percentage of people who click on your ad after seeing your ad.

The number of clicks that are driven through your Ad is determined as CTR.
It is calculated as: number of clicks / number of impressions = CTR
