I noticed that http://www.ancient-china.net didn't get any PR while more recent sites have got some, so I looked at the google cache of it, and it had none. Do you think google hasn't found the site or has it blocked it?

Who links to the site? Maybe it just had too few links to really get noticed by google.
Though, your PR does consistently come up as 0. Does your content come from wiki? If it does, I would say it's unlikely, but maybe your site got penalized for duplicate content?
Probably just a time thing though.
I've got links from Incka.com, Forums, Ancient-Civilisation.info, 18 PR5 games sites, And a PR6 Ancient-World site.
Wait until the next update. It probably just hasn't picked them up yet. If you have nothing by the next update then you may have been penalized.
