"Placeholder" websites and page rank

I keep reading about page rank but still don't feel like I really understand it.

Remember the thread with "placeholder websites" as a way to do something with domains you hadn't had time to develop? (I throw up a home page on these domains as a way to try different templates and see if I can create some interest.) After this latest update I am sitting here with 10 such sites that went to PR4.

They only have one page so maybe that doesn't mean much. They are very niche terms and get little traffic. Some days the bots outnumber visitors Amazon has at least one or two books about the subject matter of most, and they are usually related to a collectible that is actively bought or sold on Ebay.

Any thoughts/ideas/comments on adding value in this situation; or providing insight into the PR concept.

Keep adding content, that is what works best in the long run.

PR is bascally how many links to you. How many links to the sites that link to you. How many sites link to them. etc. the higher your PR (links to you) the higher you effect other websites.
