    PR7 domain or not?

    Hey guys,

There is a domain for sale at the moment with an extremely relevant name to what we are doing at the moment and its a PR7.

However when you go to to the domain it is a domain sales website holding page - if you right click and go properties the actual url is that of the domain sales site not the actual domain. G toolbar says PR7 and pagerank.net says the same. However I am a little suspicious that it is the domain sales website page with the PR7 and the url is just being masked.

If it done in that way is it possible to give a false PR for a domain - I am not accusing the site of doing this I mean its purely a by product. The actual homepage of the domain sales website has a higher PR so I thought it is quite likely that the PR7 is actual for a subpage of its parent.

Any advice gratefully received as always.

    Dan

There are around 45 links showing in google, 60% are PR4 but the rest range from 5, to quite a few 6's and a few 7's.

How many other links are on the PR 6 and 7 pages?

Sounds like it would probably be PR6 if not 7 anyway.

Are the links coming from other pages of the company selling it? They might disappear as soon as its sold...

    Hey guys,

Links are cool, this was an established site to which the links are still active but the people linking have not updated yet. Whois.sc reveals a wide range of IPs / servers so it is cool.

However if I just go to the url of the page which is being masked, that has a PR of 7 too so I think I was being a little optimistic. If I change the query string to any of the domains also for sale all are PR7

    Thanks

    Dan

The backlinks point to the domain I am interested in, or am I missing the point?

If the backlinks point to the domain then it would appear the PR is legit (Assuming there are enough to justify a PR of 7).

Yes all the links point to the domain - it is a tricky one as I would estimate a PR of 6 for this site and it does not help that http://www.domainssalessite.com/?url...ainforsale.com is always PR 7 for all the domains the site is selling including the one I am interested in so it is tricky to judge.

Regardless we have made an offer via Escrow so we shall see.

    Thanks

I am employed as well as doing personal projects outside of work.

The domain aquisition is for work.
