Football Site Layout

looking for feedback on the layout of my new football site/forums. I know that we dont have much content or forum activity but im just looking for layout critiques and/or comments so far. We will be getting a domain name after we get more content up and running..

It's very... Netscape 1.1n-ish.

Default background (grey). Default links (blue)... to be honest, it seems that more thought could be put into its presentation.

I wouldn't look at this site as being one worth re-visiting, I'm afraid. On the purely cosmetic side of things.

A bit of CSS could help imho.

the buttons don't look good enough and the background could use some sort of image or something.... Not a looping image....but just a cool photoshop image or something.
