    Question Making Money

Hi, I’m new to this making money thing online, I have always wanted to join the google adsense affiliate program due to so many positive reviews, but I am not sure if they actually pay for I have also read that some affiliate programs don't pay, is google adsense one of them?

Another thing of what I was wondering was that since most of you guys are already making money from google adsense, I would be nice if you could tell me about how many hit, or unique hits I need to actually make a good amount of money with google adsense.

Another thing I would like to know is that which type of google banner is the best?

    Google pays.

Don't measure hits, measure uniques and page views.

I think 60,000 monthly pageviews minimum, 80,000 recommended, 100,000 max before putting ads on.

I think it really depends on what your site topic is. Like you could probably get away with a couple of hundred uniques a day on a high paying topic, but on a low paying one it might have to be a few thousand.

Page view is a single page viewed.

Hit is when something is downloaded, like an image or something. So if you had 20 images on one page, you'd get at least 20 hits for someone visiting it.

    I think that's right anyway

hits = any requests made to the server (ie, for each image etc)
pageview = each page requested from the server
unique = each unique visitor to your site.

As mike says, it depends on your topic. Some topics will pay $15 per click. Others will only pay $0.04.

The higher paying topics tend to be more competitive.

The lower paying one's aren't always so competitive, but obviously you need a far greater amount of traffic to make it worth it.

Use wordtracker.com to estimate the number of times a search term is searched for.

Click through rates tend to be, for most people, in the 1% - 3% range on average with adsense. So, with a large degree of likely error, you can work out roughly what you could be earning depending on the traffic you expect or at least work out a worst case scenario.

That's basically it in a nutshell. For a better idea, read the series of articles on this site, "How to build a successful website".

I've made almost $1000 on adsense, Chris I would expect has made tens of thousands on it.

Chromate - Wordtracker is not reliable on its own. Use www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion
