Launching new website with tool need advice

Im launching a new website and one of the biggest features is a custom tool i created.

When promoting this tool should i get a new domain?

http://www.newdomain.com and have it redirect to the url

or should i just promote it where its located now at

    http://www.url.com/tool/

I havent launched the site yet so i figure if i had another domain i could probally do 2 press releases. Maybe dual adwords promotions ? Ive never used adwords like that before so im unsure if u can do that.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

If people are going to remember the name of the tool and it is destinct from the name of the website, ie cooltool on great website, then the danger is they will look for cooltool .com and not find it, so I would promote it where it is, and get the redirecting domain for those who remember the name.

Something could also be said for just promoting the tool itself as a standalone site, if you think you might want to do that in the future one day anyways.
