    Cheapish multi domain hosting

Hi guys, I have a few new sites planned so am thinking about getting some new hosting, i.e. multi domain hosting. Can anyone recommend a good multi domain host for about $10 a month or less?

Why is it so much more for multi domain hosting?

Best I think I have found is hostony with 10 domains for $13/m or $10/m if you commit for 2 yrs.

Not too concerned about bandwidth or disk space, as all options seem to have plenty.

Have had a good look round, but I think web hosting is something that needs a personal recommendation...

Cheers Incka, but would prefer to 'stand on my own two feet' as it were.

    Hehe, will think about it!

$8/m (why are we talking in $??) for 10 domains and bandwidth etc?

Wont you be able to see all my highly optimized, super efficient, professional code then though?

    I could yes...

I'll give you the same webspace and bandwidth but 50 domains, I can't see why there is such a small domain limit...

You might not get email for a while, hostony are still working on the servers email problem...

Ok cool, will certainly consider this. What about backups n stuff though? Do you have to arrange this yourself with a dedicated server?

Any one else with any suggestions?

I have to do it myself. I do weekly backups myself, but if I'm hosting people I can do every other day backups if you want...

Are you looking for domains pointing to your site or standalone domains...

I recommend you to go with smarterlinux.com . I am really impressed
by them . They have been long enough ( 7 yrs IMHO ) in biz to be
    very reliable.

How long they have been in business is a fact really isnt it - dont think you can have an opinion on how long they've been in business

Well actually how long they have been in business is relevant as is if they have ever been bought out or merged. If they survived the down times and more importantly have never been aquired or bought out then the same staff is there and there for a reason. Seem companies go to crud after being bought out.

As far as why mult-domains are more expensive, its not that they neccessarry cost anything, but the server admin has to watch loads carefully. Some users will abude this right while others will use it properly. Its best to go to a company that makes custom accounts for you and ask them directly. Dealing with a company that sticks to set account types is the killer here. To this affect we personally allow some users to have as many domains as they want and others 1 or 2. It all depends what they are doing with them and how it affects the other users on the server. This is the key. But if you are just doing regular stuff the price range of $10 is more than good in my opinion.

    thanks, Will
