    Submit to Google.

    Hi,

Is there any use in submitting to Google when you link
to the site from another PR6 site ?

I ***ume there's no advantage if googlebot did his first visit (through that link) but I hope you don't mind me double checking.

    Thanks

Well the site will get ipicked up eventually if its linked to (even quicker if the site is spidered often), but there is no harm in hurrying up the process. Some even submit urls(s) time and time again until the pages are indexed although I am not sure how effective that is haveing never tried it.

If Google has already been, then its just a case of waiting for the deep crawl I think. The submit URL just tells Google about your domain, but as it already knows about it, its kinda useless.

My cl*** ***umes your m***ive cl***ic b*** moves some m*** but isnt p***ive obviously. Hey l***, p*** the m***.... Ok Ill stop now

I must admit I'm a bit confused over this Google submission stuff.

I've submitted my site PurpleAds.com to Google about 3 times since January this year. Having just found pagerank.net on another thread on this forum ( cheers) I see that the main pages are listed in google, the main page has a PR of 3 (mainly because my kitcar site links to it), but the site doesn't come back with any of my keywords.

Why would that be? has it just made a mental note of the pages but not actually indexed them do you think and therefore has no record yet of keywords.

Hoping it's going to appear soon as the site needs a bit of a kick start.

    Cheers, peeps

    John

Without going into detail, the reasons you don't rank well are:

    * Little or no relevant anchor text.
    * Very low PR.
    * You are targetting very, ver popular keywords (too much competition). I assume your targetted keywords are "used cars" and "used motorcycles"?

Good point about the anchor text Ozgression, I'd overlooked that so will address it (will do it for my other sites as well)

Dead right about the keywords as well. I did Wordtracker for keywords but decided at the time that it would be too difficult to get listed high enough for these sort of keywords so at the time decided on a different promotional tack. I'm still doing that but have decided I do need to get listed as soon as possible for credibility.

Difficult bit is, is that there isn't much content to the site besides the actual car adverts (still trying to build this side of things up) so have decided to add more keyword relevant content to the site in the shape of informational pages and see how that goes.

    Cheers, John
