    Question King Google in Trouble?

Have you guys ever heard of Cuil?

From what I understand, it was founded by former Google employees and is going to attempt to knock King Google off its throne. Should be interesting.

    What do you think?

    Hype.

It'll fall back like all the others.

I saw the cofounder on the news, it was a joke.

Really... think about it... if you start a new search engine and claim to be "half as good as google" you don't get any free news publicity. No, you have to claim to be bigger and better.

Ya... I'm sure some upstart little company that hasn't invested the god awful sums of money that Google has in infrastructure has made "the worlds biggest search engine."

    It is all hype.

    funny stuff

    Search 121,617,892,992 web pages

    Okay...

    250 results for "the"

    Really... how about this comparison

    cuil: 40,819,411 results for batman
google: Results 1 - 10 of about 102,000,000 for batman

The bottom line is, Google got popular not just because they were better, but because the alternatives were not good enough, so people actively looked for other options.

As long as Google stays good enough, people have no motivation to switch.

Google is its own verb, can you imagine people saying 'cuil it' (cool it) when referring someone to search.

Also the only reason this got any attention was because it was ex-googlers. They'll be forgotten in a week.

Damn, that would certainly be an accomplishment. I wonder what they plan on doing differently.
