    Merchant Account and/or Gateway????

After describing my upcoming site (a job board) to a representative at my bank, I was told that I don't need a shopping cart, but could use their gateway service which accepts all major credit cards. Is this true? Is it secure? What are the requirements to get a SSL certificate/logo for the site?

SSL certificates range in price (but all are more or less the same) the cheapest and what I use are $49.

Merchant accounts are generally worth shopping around for as prices vary greatly.

If you are running a service based business like that, there is no need for a cart but a payment providered that is certified already could make life easier. And use a virtual terminal and then your mobile.
