Question aside from Adsense, is Advertising revenue even worth it any more?

when I look at the revenue I earn from advertisin (adsense excluded), it seems to be just not worth it anymore. Litte by little Ive slowly converted my advertsing space over to pay per sale, and after a lot of trial n error in finding what will work, im pleased to say im earning several times more by using that space. My feeling is advertising CPM will just keep falling slowly, and in taking the long term view, I feel Ive made the right choice in shifting to pay per sale.
So im interested in other peoples opinions on all this pls?

IT really depends on your site, affiliate stuff works great for some sites, but not all.

In the end, we're in an economic downturn right now, and that will affect ad spending, but no one who follows the industry predicts overall Internet ad spending to do anything but rise meteorically long term.

... which means I guess for me the goal is, once you start making enough where you think you're making enough, which I think I am, then the main thing is longevity and trying to make better sites, established now, so that in years and years to come they can be big established destinations.

That is with content anyways, my ecommerce outlook is different entirely.

The only profitable advertising program out there i think is only adsense, other just dont give as much as adsense give. Certainly should go for CPA if you are not using Adsense.

The matter of advertising and earning revenue from websites is very complex. It depend on many factors like the target audience as well as the quality of websites and the web niches selected.

For shopping websites that manage to reach top positions in the search engines, the referral and affiliates programs can bring excellent cash flows.
