Directory submissions for regional website

I am about to launch a country specific website and wanted to know whether I should focus more on listing on local directories or international directories?

That's going to depend on the nature of the Web site. Is it targeted towards people who live in that country, or foreigners (such as tourists)? If it's the former, then I'd look for directories that focus on that country (and the language the people speak); if it's the latter, I'd hit the international directories (and possibly the local ones too).

Of course, that would be just the first step in promoting the site.
