What is a Manifest file?
A manifest file in computing is a file containing metadata for a group of accompanying files that are part of a set or coherent unit. For example, the files of a computer program may have a manifest describing the name, version number, license and the constituting files of the program.
A Manifest file is a document containing metadata for a gathering of going with records that are a piece of a set or rational unit.
For instance, the records of a PC program may have a show depicting the name, rendition number, permit and the constituting documents of the program.
Basically manifest file is XML file which is used to stores the data for your application. Which is written in a markup language that helps system to know all the components that exits in a application. It is also know as summary of your application.
The manifest is a special file that can contain information about the files packaged in a JAR file. By tailoring this "meta" information that the manifest contains, you enable the JAR file to serve a variety of purposes.
