What is Anchor Text Diversity and Why is it Important? 15 June 2017 by Andy Tuxford. You've probably heard of anchor text: the visible, clickable words used to link one page to another. It's the visible part of a hyperlink. Hopefully, you're using anchor text within internal and external links.
Anchor text diversity refers to the diversity of anchor texts in the links going to your site, typically anchor texts fall into 5 categories:
URL (e.g. Example.com)
Brand / Company name (e.g. Example Ltd)
Keyword rich (e.g. ‘Hotel in France’ or ‘Sports shoes’)
Generic (e.g. ‘click here’ or ‘visit website’
