How much should I offer?
I'm thinking of buying the company that owns PCComics.com.
The company is solely for this site, and the site hasn't been updated in 2 years. The site costs the owners at least $500 a year and is making no revenue.
I know one of the owners.
So, how much should I offer?
I think I can quickly turn the site arround into a massive revenue creating monster because it has around 50 original high-quaility excluse flash cartoons on it which I could give some away like miniclip do.
So the big question: How much should I offer?
-
Well, to start with, how much CAN you offer? And how much do you think you can make? Look at the stats, and decide if it can be made back quickly.
-
That stats are crap... Hardly any traffic...
I have about £800 but I don't want to spend it all.
I think I could make loads if I do the miniclip launch thing...
-
It has a Google PR of 0 for gods sake!
-
It's not worth £800. And you have to ask yourself, how would you get people to find out about your affiliate idea. Search engine positions will be hard on this subject I would have thought.
-
I have, but I'm keeping my solution secret.
Chris, how much would you say it is worth?
BTW: The owner doesn't think people should me makes from the web... Wierd to say he has several offline businesses that have massive profits...
-
I think it's only worth as much as you think the cartoons are... ie, how much would it take to make them yourself? Is it worth £100?
-
I don't know how much it is worth -- with no PR you can assume it has little traffic so all you're buying is the content.
How much would you pay someone to make that content for you? It is worth that much.
-
If it is costing him $500.00 dollars a year, he might sell it to you cheap...
-
Chris is right... I'm after the content - but also the domains...
http://www.pccomics.com
http://www.pctoons.com
As well as other domain endings like .co.uk...
The content is really high quailty and I think it is worth alot...
I would pay alot for the content...
So anyone want to give me an estimate?
-
It's too hard for me to say. I wouldn't be at all interested in it, so to me it would be worth nothing.
I would go in with a low offer, say £250. Then gage his response.
-
OK.
He's unlilely to do the fake mystery bidder trick as I know him.
I just want Chris to confirm that is a good offer...
PS: http://www.xe.com/ucc if you want it in dollars.
-
I was thinking more along the lines of £100 ;) But I'm a cheap bugger.
-
Don't forget that you'll start to incur his expenses once you own the site so you can't blow all your funds on the site.
So I'd definitely start low as has been suggested.
-
I'm going to get rid of all of the money taking things apart from the domains...
They pay $99 for a tell a friend service per year for gos sake!
-
So, did you give him a offer yet?
-
Not yet... I haven't had chance...
