Product lined up. E-commerce help?

I have a great product lined up, ready to ship. I have OSCommerce on standby.

What I need to know is:

1. Sales tax? Who to charge and how much?
2. Business license. I'm self-employed, but not an LLC. Do you have to file for any license with the county/state to have an online store and to sell this merchandice locally?

Those are my two big questions. Thanks.

1. Get an EIN.
2. Use your EIN to get a State Sales Tax License
3. File necessary paperwork with your state/county -- this varies. I filed nothing for my site, but I already had an LLC. I suppose I could have done a DBA, but I didn't. Talk to a lawyer or seek help from the local chamber of commerce if you're not sure.

As for charging sales tax, charge only in state customers, charge whatever your state tax rate is.
