how do .info domains perform on google?

Same as any other domain.

interesting.. i was sure that was not so... i will have to keep this in mind for future domains I need.

.com's are better for people remembering the domain, so you might get more links because of this, and therefore a better google ranking, but their is no DIRECT proformance on google to do with your TLD.
