OK - I'm pretty sure this has been asked many times before, but which would you say is best?

I have teamed up with a writer and we have decided upon a broad niche which contains lots of micro-niches.

Would it be better to build one huge site with all the information, or lots of micro niche sites and interlink them?

Thanks

I think one big website is the way to go these days. It is more "defensible".

Without knowing more I would have to go with 1 big site as well. It depends on how broad the niche is though, and what ties it all together.

Well the main niche is womens health, and the sub niches are... well there are lots.

We are also doing a site on hair and hair care.

That is really a complex question. Many webmasters might believe that having several websites will naturally lead to better income while many others might be earning more from a single website than tens of other web resources.

I prefer several small sites to one large site but that is just what works for me.

It's more profitable for me that way. Your mileage may vary.

If there would be lots and lots of little sites, then make it one big one.

I had this issue with my literature site starting out. Much better as a big site.

On the other hand, My "survival network" is marginally related, and could be 1 big site (a copycat made it one site) but as there are only 3 I thought 3 sites would be fine.

But under women's health you could have hundreds, that is way too many, so stick with one big site.
