Hardly recent news, MS's crawler was first noticed months ago. Yet still a decent read.

One thing I know for sure -- this is bad news for LookSmart.

Incka,

I don't think they will.

They will probably get yet another hefty fine, for running a Monopoly type business.

I thought that too... And why do you call me incka when you know my name and have done for years Mike Richardson (118).

Because not everybody knows your propper name here.

And I haven't known you for a year yet:p

No, but almost a year... The article was out over a year ago now.

Oh yeah...

There is a good example of profiting from a newspaper article. What was it, 100 extra uniques you got from it?

From 20 to 140 in one day. And it stayed above 100 for the rest of the month.

Microsoft would definatly be split up if they did that...

They would never do that simply because no one would pay. There are so many other free ones that would rise to the top.

Agreed.

Gates has said the search engine they are developing is going to play an integral roll in "long horn" (the next windows update.) I read somewhere they are going to spend hundreds of millions.

I think it would be good though. I think Google is too powerful.

If microsoft does that that will be the end of (free) online marketing.

Until the next freebie comes along.

The net will always have innovators :)

You might want to check the date when this thread was started. Microsoft wanted to buy Google and Google said no, case closed. :)

Microsoft will just wait on Google's IPO, and then flush it's pockets. That's about it.
