keyboard problem

My laptop has started doing odd things - I suspect it is to do with languages - but in outlook, it is substituting @ with # (I cant get @ at all) and just typing this is swapping @ and " over (firefox).

Word works as it should though.

Regional and Language settings in Control Panel seems correct (English UK). I am at a bit of a loss, and wonder if anyone knows of a simple fix, or what setting I might have changed to cause this.

It could be a setting within Outlook itself. It depends on the mail format, as I get emails in the US format and it doesn't like a lot of the characters I type until I change it to default again.
