Most of my sites have been over time, no big launches under my belt yet. But I do have a long term large project in the works, but it requires a lot of script work which is taking more time than I thought. Also project scope creep keeps coming in which is difficult to deal with.

You might find YouTube scalability (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6304964351441328559) to be an interesting video.

Back in December I had an idea for a resource and community website but other things got in the way and so I kept pushing it back and then someone beat me to the punch. It actually made me take the time to make it happen though and I think I've surpassed the other website in terms of brandability and the community feel.

Don't wait to long because I'm sure you aren't the first person with that idea.

you can read my story (http://www.ilovecode.com/2007/07/19/a-new-and-different-blog-forum/) if you want.

Thanks for the link, there is some interesting info in there about how even small changes can have large effects. Although I doubt to push anywhere near as much bandwidth, keeping scalabilty in mind is a really good idea.

That is always a worry, waiting/developing so long that competition (or more) launch theres.
