How do you switch them on?

You don't have to switch them on. The only way you can get them is with a certain sized ad or certain sized ads. So if you use a skyscraper ad on your site then you will not receive them. If you show one of them 300x250 (in think) ads on your site that allows images then you should get one showing on your site no and again.
