One of my amazon sites has finally been googled (around 9,000 pages indexed right now), and my stats have gone up as well.

I've had 300+ click throughs from Google searches this month :) Which is about what I managed in the entire month of December.

It's nice for work to finally be paying off.

Oh - and 6 sales so far this month; again more than I managed in December :) Look out, Chris!!

1 sale a day isn't so good I'm afraid, but its a start. Of course with AWS you don't need to do any maintenance work so its all residual income and thats nice.

I know it isn't good, but considering I managed only 3 or so in all of December, it's amazing for me.

My other AWS store has made 3 sales so far this month.

Small steps.

I've not made any yet with my sites. So you're doing better than me.

MarkB

Not even from Google?

You should sell Atkins books etc from your weight-loss sites...

Oh no, I meant with my Amazon affiliate sites.

My Carbohydrate Counter site is doing nicely from adsense at the moment. I think it's due to all the post Christmas diets people are on :) Weight Loss Tips is no where to be found in the SERPs for any decent search terms, so I'm just using that as a PR trap at the moment and sending it on to Carbohydrate Counter.

Cool! Well done, can I ask how much you get from each sale?

9,910 pages now! Damn, how do you have that many pages?? Is all ur PR from that site and your others?

MarkB

Those pages are all due to AWS.

I guess I make 5% of each sale - most of them being CDs. However, one was a $99 gold CD :) Tasty :D

As an update, my other AWS site now has 8 sales so far this month. So a total of 15. Not too bad, really. Nice start to the year, even if it'll not cover any bills.

Nice :) So do you have a main job? Or are your web sites your main work? Just wondering what you guys on here are upto behind the forum as it were - are most of you hobbyists looking to make money, or do your sites provide your main income?

I am not yet out of school, but don't have any other source of income.

Should have said what I did :)

Full time I work as a scientist, programming mostly. But have got into web development in a big way :)

Long term aim I guess is to be able to make "websites" a full time job :)

Well most people who post here are American I think, so I posted it in $. I make about £110 a month actually, so my conversion was quite a way off:)

I am making a good amount for my age, around $200 - $300 a month.

Don't settle with only a few hundred a month, regardless what your age is. If you make that much, you're capable of making more.

DaveM

I want $10k a month too...

Im doing about $2k a month off of about 17 websites.
Half of which are pretty new, so Im expecting a sharp increase the next month or two, plus with my new stuff too :D

MarkB

I would LOVE to be able to crack 1k.

Right now, we get about $4-500 a month - but our expenses are around the $400 mark, and we retain the rest for investment, or to cover a slow month...

edit the majority of this is from sold advertising, or premium forum memberships.

Our affiliate/google ads do jack s**t.

Further to this, I've had 4 times the Google clicks I had in December, just in the past 12 days.

Had 11 sales, too - hardly earth shattering, but hopefully the beginning.

17!?! I have trouble keeping up with 1! Not that its really busy or anything, just the way with ur first one I guess

Good luck with ur new sites!

MarkB, how do your expenses come to $400/month? This cant just be hosting can it?

MarkB
01-13-2004, 01:32 PM
Yep - I have 2 servers (one for downloads, one for running the sites). The main server is a dual xeon with 2GB ram, semi-managed, with 300GB transfer/month. It's a bit more expensive that some others, but it's also nice and stable bandwidth (connection is down maybe 0.1% of the time).

DaveM

17 is really nothing. Most of them dont need updating and stuff :P

I know one guy that has about 50 :O

DaveM, Is the revenue generation split pretty evenly between them? Or do you have like a couple that really pull in the money and the rest just a tiny amount?

DaveM
01-14-2004, 03:46 AM
Only a handful of them bring in the money.

The rest are either new, or ones I just made for the fun of it.

Like this site I made when the whole Michael Jackson thing got out http://www.save-michael.com doesn't make any money I just made it for the hell of it. I probably earn about $2 a day with it. lol

Hehe, thats still $700 a year though, which could pay a coupla bills, buy a TV etc...

....and about $2 more than I'm making a day yet :)

PS: The index name on your MJ forum is still yourdomain.com...
